About Brant Railway Heritage Society
We are a group of over 40 members from many communities in and around
Brant, including Brantford, Paris, St George, Mount Pleasant and
surrounding areas, some of our members are from Hamilton, Chatham,
Belleville and even from as far away as British Columbia.
The beginnings of the BRHS were formed in August of 2018 at first with a
Facebook page and soon followed by an election of an interim board of
directors in September 2018. Since that time the Society has
applied for and received our Not For Profit incorporation
through the Ontario Historical Society, elected a formal board of
directors and officers, ratified a constitution and bylaws and received
our Ontario Corporation Number. We are in the process of applying
for our registered charity status through Revenue Canada.
One of the 2 baggage carts, this one believed to be
build for the Grand Trunk Railway before 1900
We have been collecting artifacts and archive materials in preparation
for an eventual museum and begun a restoration of 2 baggage carts with
most materials donated. The carts were both from the CN/Via
station platform in Brantford, retired by Via in the 1990's.
Our most recent under taking is the preservation, restoration and
relocation of the LE&N Mt Pleasant station, with the intent of
reopening it as a railway museum.
